Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Lucy Jane Turpin has done residencies as far afield as Iceland, Morocco and Italy. With a focus on drawing and painting, the feeling of creating a work is a crucial part of the process for Turpin – how the paint moves, the weight of it. She describes her approach as sensitive, surprising and synonymous, with inspiration for her work continually coming from internal and external sources - senses, memories, even people. She sees collaboration among artists and brands as an opportunity to open work up to different audiences and believes that the experimentation and crossover that comes out of it has power and magic.
